The Project is based in the Pastaza province of Ecuador, well known for its multicultural population and biodiversity, within the Llanganates Sangay Ecological Corridor, an area recognised as one of the most ecologically important in the world. The natural richness of the region has placed it in the prey zone of many large companies and marketers, and in this place in time the Ecuadorian government is making very big decisions on how to use the resources of the area. The inhabitants of the area are interested in keeping the forests clean, but they also have families to protect and nurture, their dilemma is how to look after them both. The goal of the project is to engage with local community in the protection of the natural and cultural diversity of the area. This new, innovative project aims to develop a model conservation centre offering cultural and educational programmes, wildlife investigation programmes and target wild animal repopulation programmes.
