Volunteers will learn about sustainable farming, permaculture, natural building, and traditional Mayan culture. Days involve 4 hours of practical work on the farm, alongside experienced Mayan farmers and internationally trained teachers. Most volunteer efforts are geared towards helping small farmers improve their cultivation via soil and water conservation techniques.
Volunteers work for 4 hours epr day and receive 1 hour of instruction per day, Monday through Friday. Volunteers must pay for their food and lodging. Housing is provided by a nearby guest house, which has hot showers, wifi, and beatiful views from all rooms. In the afternoons, volunteers can explore the surrounding area or continue to work with the local farmers. Spanish lessons can also be arranged.
