Buwedda is not a gap year organization it is a non-governmental grass roots development association. It is run solely by volunteers who commit their time and sometimes financial resources to ensuring that women with disabilities can be empowered economically and socially so that they can provide for themselves and their families and protect themselves against HIV/AIDS. This makes volunteering for Buwedda much cheaper than other volunteer experiences as the cost covers your stay in Uganda and a small contribution towards the organisation activities. It does not pay the wages of staff and all money goes directly into the projects. Buwedda offers hands on grass roots development experience that will make a real impact on the lives of women and children with disabilities in Jinja Uganda. Buwedda is not just looking for financial resources but human resources to help run its projects. There is always space for new thinking and innovative ideas that can benefit the projects.
