Additional Info:N.Y.I.P. is a community based project located in the south west of Uganda in the Kisoro District. The programme aims to provide members of The Nkuringo Youth Group an opportunity to access education and skill development resources.

The Nkuringo Youth Initiative Programme is a non-profit, community organization run by the community for the community and exists in conjunction with the Nkuringo Youth Group. The Programme is free to access and all staff work on a volunteer basis. The Programme relies upon donations from organizations and tourists as well as from Youth Group members.

The Programme provides access to informal education and provides the chance for the youth to develop life skills in areas such as personal hygiene, refuse management, recycling and cooking. N.Y.I.P. is also developing a specific project to assist young mothers.

The Programme is managed by the Kisoro community members themselves, including a Volunteer Co-coordinator. The Co-coordinator is responsible for ongoing management of activities as well as the co-ordination of volunteers.

The Volunteers are a vital part of the success of the Programme and mostly work in the following areas;-

development and co-ordination of group activities including, dance, music, cooking etc.

assistance with fund raising

assistance with day to day activities that take place at the Nkuringo Campsite.

Volunteer Requirements:

There is currently no minimum time frame for the Volunteers but we hope the volunteers will remain until the completion of their identified project.
All Volunteers are expected to identify potential donors to the project and to promote the project in any activities that they may be involved in.
Volunteers are welcome anytime of the year.
Volunteers are responsible for their own personal effects however, accommodation is provided.
The volunteers are responsible for their own meals though there are some of the group members that will help introduce you to local foods and how they are prepared if you are interested to learn.
